Run a finger along these hoops and you can feel the ribs before you can properly see them in a photograph, a row of fine parallel grooves circling the whole hoop rather than sitting flat. That texture is what catches light in short repeated flashes as you move, instead of one long gleam down a smooth surface.

The base is stainless steel with a gold-toned finish, and that combination is doing real work here. Ordinary gold-tone plating on brass tends to dull within a few wears; here, the shine doesn't fade after a few wears the way it would elsewhere, which is most of what anti-tarnish is actually promising.

Avoid water and perfumes where you can, and store them in a dry, airtight container after use even though the base metal is doing most of the durability work for you.

Ribbed hoops like these sit close enough to the ear to wear all day at a desk, but the texture reads clearly enough to still register from across a room. That makes them one of those rare pairs that works for both an ordinary Tuesday and a night you didn't plan to dress up for.
