Clear Solitaire Thread Ring

From two feet away this reads as a diamond solitaire, and there is no harm in that as long as everyone knows what it actually is. The stone is clear cubic zirconia, bezel-set into a hair-fine gold-plated band, and it does the job a small diamond would do at a tiny fraction of the cost.

Cubic zirconia is not a fake diamond so much as a different stone that happens to be clear and hard. It cuts cleanly and holds its polish, and up close it throws slightly more rainbow than a diamond does. That last bit is the tell, and it only shows if someone is looking for it.

Clear is the most useful of the four thread rings because it goes with the other three. Wear it beside the pink one or the green one and it acts as a spacer, which is how thin rings are meant to work together.

The bezel setting is the reason a stone this small survives daily wear. Nothing sticks up to catch, and the ring keeps a smooth profile against the finger next to it.

Hand cream is the enemy here, more than water. It collects around a bezel and dulls the stone, and a dry cloth once a week keeps a clear stone actually clear.
