Clear Heart Statement Ring

Size is the whole argument. The faceted heart on this gold-plated ring is oversized on purpose, wide enough to cover most of the finger between knuckles, and the scalloped setting around it adds another ring of edges to catch light.

The stone is clear crystal, cut with flat planes that flash white rather than throwing colour the way a brilliant cut does. The scalloping is where the piece earns its price. Each small arc around the bezel picks up light separately from the stone, so the setting stays bright even when the heart is angled away from a lamp.

It is built on stainless steel with gold plating over it, and the band is open at the back with enough give to adjust across a couple of sizes. A ring this large needs that adjustment. It has to sit dead centre on the finger or the shape looks wrong, and an open band lets you correct it after you put it on.

Wear it with a plain outfit and nothing else on that hand. Big fashion rings work by being the only thing happening, and they stop working the moment a second ring joins them.

Keep it out of water and away from perfume and the plating stays even around the scallops, which are the first place a big setting goes dull.
