One fine wire, tied once, and nothing else on the band. The love knot is one of the oldest ideas in jewellery and this gold-plated ring keeps it at its plainest, with no stones and no pavé edging to explain what the shape already says.

The knot sits slightly proud of the band so it catches light on the curve while the rest of the ring stays flat and quiet. It is a small design, sized to read on the hand without announcing itself from across a room. Stainless steel under the plating gives it more rigidity than a brass ring of the same thinness, which matters on a knot, because a softer metal would flatten the loop within a month.

Knots carry meaning without needing a word engraved on them, which makes this an easy gift when you want to say something and not overdo it. It also stacks well, since the flat band leaves room for a second ring beside it.

Plated gold over steel keeps its colour longest when it stays away from perfume and soap. Put it on after getting ready rather than before.

There is no stone to lose and no clasp to fail. Some pieces are easy to own and this is one.
